Hi! I'm Alex. I live in the West Adams/Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, I'm a Producer in the video game industry at an independent development studio (Magic Pixel Games), and I generally like life. I'm married to the lovely gina and I enjoy spicy food, pro football, and surrealism.
FAQ: Q: Why are you commenting on my LJ? Who are you? A: Well I might've seen you via friendsfriends. Or maybe we met at one of the following: A UCLA Enigma club event? One of the Sins o' the Flesh Rocky Horror Picture Show performances at the Nuart (I played Dr. Scott once a month or so from 2007 - 2010)? Ground Control karaoke (although I only go like once a year at this rate)? Something in the video game industry?
Q: Nope, none of those. A: Hmmm. Well maybe we met in New England? I grew up just outside Newport, RI, went to college at Union in Schenectady, NY, and lived in Boston for about six years. I was active in the local gaming community and the Camarilla, and spent the last year working for Turbine, an MMO developer, on their Asheron's Call game.
Q: Hmmm, maybe. But didn't you used to have a different LJ account name? A: Yup! From Fall '01 until Spring '07 this LJ was under the handle "cspariah". I changed it because I wanted a more positive username to use when presenting myself and my journal to my friends and the general Internet.
Q: Oh good! I remember you now. A: Hooray! I like meeting new people, and I like keeping track of what people I used to know are doing. So yeah, hooray for LiveJournal.
Q: Is that mainly what you use your LJ for? A: No, not really. I mostly use it as, well, a journal. While I'm aware that people are reading, and I do make posts specifically for my friends to see, mostly this is for me. So I can look back and find patterns in my life, as well as be nostalgic and say, "What was I doing on this date five years ago?" I've been keeping a journal in some form or another pretty regularly since 1992 and I've found it to be pretty valuable.
Now that Facebook and microblogging sites are drawing more and more human traffic away from LJ, it's turning into a personal journal and RSS reader only. So hey, even more impressive that you're here reading this!
OK, Q&A time is over, let's go have some punch & pie.
If you really REALLY can't get enough of me, I'm also on Facebook and Twitter. I also have Google+ and LinkedIn and Friendster and MySpace and god only knows what else accounts, but those are the two I actually use in addition to LJ.
